Effective July 1, 2014, all prescribers who hold a current DEA license and who prescribe controlled substances are required by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners to complete a minimum of two hours of prescribing CME credit. Licensees who are scheduled to renew in 2015 must complete the new requirement by December 31, 2014.
A total of forty (40) credits are required for physician re-licensure. All credits must be earned in the two years prior to renewal.
Two modules are available to Vanderbilt faculty and staff to meet the State’s requirements:
- Update on Regulations for Appropriate Controlled Substance Prescriptions
- Guidelines for Proper Opioid Prescription
